I tried to find an update myself but I don't think nVidia has updated the drivers in a long time, nor will they. Here are my specs and current versions of my software: Macbook White 6,1 (Late 2009) Snow Leopard 10.6.8 nVidia GeForve 9400M CUDA Driver Version: 5.0.45 GPU Driver Version: 1.6.37.0 (256.02.25f01) 8GB RAM 1066 MHz DDR3 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Thanks a lot, any answer is helpful.

Hello Nvidia help! Maybe you can help me? I have a macbook with the Nvidia GeForce 9400M, and I'm currently running an EFI 64-bit copy of Windows 10. However, I can't get the display drivers working. I've tried 3 different versions, all of them resulting in an insta-crash; No BSOD, no error message. Just a quick trip to reboot city. The Widows 7 driver version from the Bootcamp support software installs, but crashes on subsequent reboots during the boot process (Windows flag, spinning dots). The windows 10 driver versions from fall 2015 & spring 2016 (latest) both crash mid installation as well as on boot.

I've tried booting in low graphics mode with no luck, but i can get into safe mode; disabling the driver allows the system to boot.

The system log provides no helpful information; just a failed crash dump initialization followed by a message informing an unclean reboot caused by a loss of power or crash.

Any help?

  • MacBook MC240LL/a

  • NVidia GeForce 9400M

  • NVidia nForce SMC (730i???)

  • No integrated Intel graphics

  • 256MB Base video memory

  • 1280x800 maximum resolution display

  • Windows 10 64-Bit

  • EFI setup

  • Current driver installed: 9.18.13.4192

  • Newer and older drivers have been tested

Hi Eric,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I understand the inconvenience you are facing. I will certainly help you with this.

This issue may arise due to incompatibility of graphics driver with Windows or Virtual machine that are you using or with Mac OS. I suggest you to try compatibility mode for graphics driver and check if it helps. To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

  • Right click on graphic driver that you have downloaded from manufacturer website.
  • Click/tap on Properties.
  • Check the Run this program in Compatibility mode for under Compatibility tab
  • Select Windows 8.1/8 from the drop down under Compatibility mode section.
  • Click on Apply and Ok.
  • Install the drivers, restart PC and check if issue is resolved.

If issue persist, I suggest you to get in contact with Apple support for better suggestion.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

Thank you.

I'm seeing the same issue. Can't even get it to boot in safe mode. Nvidia has to be working on a fix here, right? Is there at least a workaround or an old driver that works in the interim?

Technically this model of MacBook isn't supported for Windows 10. Still, I'd expect Nvidia stuff to work.

Same issue here on Macbook 13' White (Early 2009) with Nvidia 9400m, even latest 341.81 driver crashes after Windows boot logo, old Windows 7 (Apple's Bootcamp 4) driver also..

Only Microsoft Basic Driver works, so no graphic cards benefits - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Found the solution

You're probably (U)EFI Booting Windows on your Macbook.

'Technical info: While Windows 8 no longer expects an EFI system to have VGA-compatible video, Nvidia drivers apparently still do and crash if they don’t detect it. The above commands are supposed to enable the VGA support in the graphics card.'

I'm writing this from Windows on my Macbook 5,2 with Nvidia 9400m running latest Nvidia Driver 341.92

Adele 25 album zip download. You have to boot your Windows from an EFI shell, for example following this guide: BetterThanBootcamp GUIDE reddit

and add these lines to your startup.nsh so that it looks like this:

This isn't working on my MacbookPro 5,4. Are the PCI port supposed to be different ?

Hey NooN974

maybe you've already solved it yourself but if you still look for a solution check out this link where a user explains how to find out the PCI port information needed. The whole page is worth reading. I hope you can make it work

Hi, thank you so much for this tip. I have the same issue my Macbook air 2010 installed Windows 10 by deleting all partition and recreated it with GPT and an EFI partition. I tried google search and didn't find on how to edit startup.nsh file. Can you tell me where I find this file to edit? Thanks.

Please have a look at the GUIDE I also linked in my first post. Especially look at the section Enabling Windows Boot Option

there you'll find how to edit startup.nsh - you should check out the whole guide to make Windows work nice & smooth. If you don't understand something I'd help you of course!

Thanks for the hint. Somehow I missed that section when I was reading it the first time. Now that I know how to edit the startup.nsh. Can you point me to another guide how to figure out the PCI register for my card? I read this guide

http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/win7-x64-booting-natively-via-efi-no-bios-emulation.696523/page-10#post-14101770 but a little confusing to me. For example, when it ask to start the shell in the first step, do you start it in Windows or Mac and how do you start it? I read that it started from BIOS for PC but the Macbook doesn't allow you to enter into EFI.
